STATEMENT FROM THE EVENT ORGANISERS

Thank you for entering the Frank Harmer Memorial 10K which was scheduled to take place at 11.00am on Sunday 1 March 2009 in Brockwell Park.

We sincerely regret to inform you, that owing to extenuating circumstances beyond our control, we have been forced to cancel this race.

Unfortunately, the changing, toilet and baggage storage facilities in Brockwell Lido which we had intended to use will not now be available to us owing to the unexpected commencement of refurbishment works in the Lido, which had been scheduled to begin after the race but which have now been brought forward and will start before our race. Duration of the refurbishment cannot be guaranteed and therefore neither can the availability of this facility for the event.

There are no other suitable facilities available to us in Brockwell Park which could enable us to host an event which will meet the high standards we set ourselves and which all race entrants are entitled to expect. Under these circumstances, Herne Hill Harriers as organisers have regretably been forced to conclude that the sensible and responsible course of action is to cancel the race.

Thank you for supporting the event - this is greatly appreciated. If you entered online, your entry fee will be refunded in full to the account from which you originally paid; if you entered by post, we will send you a cheque by post very shortly.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience and disappointment caused by the cancellation of our race and we hope that you will be able to find another event to enter if you still wish to race over the same weekend.

We hope to see you at future events organised by Herne Hill Harriers. We host 3 track & field meetings every summer and have every intention of promoting future open road races, including the Frank Harmer 10km, in Brockwell Park when circumstances enable us to do so to the standard required.
